Gladstone Park gains its first Green Flag award.

                                                                                                   Friday 29th July 2005

Yesterday at the Guildhall in London, Gladstone Park was presented with its first Green Flag award, the national standard for parks and green spaces across England and Wales.

The award, managed by The Civic Trust on behalf of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Green Flag Advisory Board was granted after an exhaustive inspection of the park in May this year and is based on high environmental standards, quality of green space, amenity values and community involvement.

At the same time Roundwood Park, our sister park in Harlesden Road received its seventh consecutive Green Flag whilst Roe Green was awarded a Green Penant, an award that recognises high quality green spaces in England and Wales that are managed by voluntary and community groups.

This is a record for Brent and our thanks must go to all the staff at Brent Parks Service for the work and dedication that has enabled these high standards to be achieved and to the community groups for their help and support.
